What was the experience of your 1st Baptiste class?
My first class was a personal class with me in my living room outside of Detroit MI with a VHS tape I had found on sale at the bookstore. I had read lots about the benefits of yoga but could not afford to take classes locally as we were young parents just trying to get by. I didn’t know much about it or the teachers but gave this guy a try and Baron has since changed my life. After my first practice, (chickened out and only did the first part of the tape) I felt invigorated and empowered. I easily incorporated it into my mornings and was amazed with the results I was achieving.
Why do you Practice Baptiste Yoga?
Even though I didn’t experience a studio class for decades after practicing Baptiste, something resonated with me in Baron. There was an edge to his style, a hardness…..and for me, I needed that. Ultimately it is the challenge and the discipline, it’s the internal work, it’s the off the mat commitments and there is nothing that works my body and my mind like a JIP sequence. I enjoy other forms of yoga but they just don’t resonate with me totally like Baptiste does. When I am fully living a Baptiste lifestyle, everything flows easier and I am a happier and more complete person.
Why do you teach Baptiste Yoga?
I believe in the Baptiste method as someone who has experienced it’s gifts. Ultimately I want to share that, but the main reason I teach Baptiste Yoga is to be of service. To offer an experience to my students, support to other teachers, which serves me by keeping me connected to my practice.
My promise
My promise is to deliver a positive spirit hungry for growth and an infectious smile that seeks a community to share it with. I promise to inspire others with my own journey and commitment and I promise to always be a student and consistently seek growth.
